Why does it seem like being underqualified is the main qualification to be a volleyball coach. Just because you used to be an amazing player doesn’t mean you are an amazing coach; the skills don’t necessarily translate. It’s like the difference between a square and a rectangle: a square can be a rectangle, but a rectangle can’t be a square. The few ex-pros I know who are great coaches are great coaches because they’ve been coaching for decades. They didn’t just start out of nowhere as an amazing coach. They became great coaches because they love the game more than anyone else. In my eyes, ex-players make worse candidates as coaches because of how overconfident they can be. I understand you say you’re self-made and that you did it all on your own, but you need to give credit where credit is due. You probably think you did all the work yourself growing up and haven’t thanked your mom for anything she’s done in years. If I were your coach, I’d tell you to start copying Ted Lasso.
